Biographical Description:

Described as the "executive coach who gets to the parts other personal development coaches can't reach," I have over 20 years' experience as a personal development expert and leadership coach. I am dedicated to helping leaders and their teams operate at their very best, which increases value in the organization while also enhancing a leader's own sense of well-being and personal satisfaction.

I specialize in coaching high-level business leaders to help them develop their leadership style and achieve personal alignment, which creates a charisma and presence in them that inspires people to follow with enthusiasm. When a leader's personal power is combined with a real understanding of what motivates and influences the people around them, then miracles happen.

Since 1995, I have been the Managing Director of PPD Consulting Ltd, a coaching and development firm for senior executives, which specialises in getting the tools and techniques into an organization to enable rapid change and thus play a significant role in the turn-around of high profile companies. The PPD coaching style reflects an ability to read an organization's culture and provides a challenging and supporting style that allows us to work alongside managers to help define and implement the new behaviours required for successful business performance.

Recent clients include a divisional MD who needed to manage a Group CEO with a very different personality; a highly competent women leader having difficulty managing perceptions in an all male environment; and helping a senior management team in a bank return to high performance, after there had been a significant breakdown of relationships and external job-hunting by team members.

Formal learning and qualifications
Julian is a pioneer in the use of NLP in business consulting in the UK since 1984 and founder of Pace Personal Development Ltd in 1988, one of the premier NLP training organizations in Britain. He is the only UK trainer to have been personally trained by John Grinder, one of the founders of NLP, and was the first NLP trainer to teach in the former Soviet Union at the invitation of the Soviet Academy of Science. He is a UKCP registered psychotherapist and lectures regularly on leadership issues at conferences and seminars.

Julian has co-authored Alpha Leadership - Tools for Business Leaders Who Want More Out of Life with Robert Dilts and Anne Deering, John Wiley and Co, May 2002; and written Spreading Personal Growth in Society (Artemis Trust, UK, 1985). He has also contributed a chapter on leadership to a forthcoming book on self-relations psychology edited by Steve Gilligan, to be published in 2003.
